I’m very excited to be part of the third grade team at Legend Springs! I’m originally from Kansas, but have called Arizona home since 2007. Over the last 24 years, I’ve have taught 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 6th grades. In addition, I have also taught gifted cluster classes in the Paradise Valley and Dysart school districts. I’ve been an AVID Instructional Coach and a Director of Education at Sylvan Learning Centers. I hold endorsements in SEI, Early Childhood, and in Gifted Education. In addition, I am a member of the Arizona Association for Gifted and Talented, the Computer Science Teachers Association,as well as the Arizona STEM Network. Problem-solving and critical thinking are important components of my classroom which I have implemented through computer programming, STEM and the Genius Hour. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family exploring all the wonderful outdoor experiences Arizona has to offer. I love everything relating to London, England. I wrote a letter to Queen Elizabeth when I was in the 5th grade and her lady-in-waiting wrote me back! I have a Yorkie named Ashby and a Tabby named Winston.
I have always wanted to be a teacher, so this is my dream job. I come from a family of educators, with one of my grandmothers having taught in a one room schoolhouse. I look forward to working with my students and their families this year at Legend Springs. It is my goal to provide a learning environment that encourages all students to think critically, develop problem-solving skills, and to feel confident in their learning. Through the building of learning communities, students will respect and support the other members of their team. I truly believe that “education is a journey, not a destination.”
